Reflexology is a natural, holistic therapy, that promotes relaxation and as a result may also ease stress, tension and associated symptoms. Using thumb and fingers, defined pressure is used on different areas of the feet that correspond to parts of the body, bringing it back into balance - the right foot relating to the right side of the body and the left foot to the left side. By treating the body as a whole, it allows the cause to be treated as well as the symptoms. Reflexology is also used when massage is not possible.
Dating back thousands of years, its origins are in China and Ancient Egypt, where it is thought to have been practiced in a similar manner.
"The treatments have been of great benefit to me and I'm amazed at the changes that have taken place. I feel a lot calmer and relaxed, something that my family have also commented on"
Maggie - School laboratory assistant
Reflexology provides deep relaxation and as a result may also offer:
♦ relief from stress, tension and anxiety
♦ relief from headaches and migraines
♦ support with hormonal issues
♦ support with digestive problems
♦ improved sleep due to relaxation
♦ improved mood
♦ feelings of deep relaxation
♦ improved sense of wellbeing
Reflexology is suitable for most people, but there will be times when treatment is not appropriate. The best thing to do would be to get in touch and ask.
All sessions will begin with a consultation to ensure that treatment is appropriate on the day.
After an initial consultation, the reflexology session will last for approximately one hour.
As it's just the feet being worked on you only need to remove your shoes and socks, before being invited to relax on a reclining chair.
A variety of reflexology techniques are used, tailored and adapted to you.
Because of the defined pressure, people with ticklish feet really do not need to worry and can tolerate a full reflexology treatment.
The feet and legs below the knees will be massaged using a moisturising cream, to boost the circulation, release any tension and leave you feeling calm and relaxed.
Although one or two treatments may be of benefit, a course of treatments may be advisable depending on your body's needs. A minimum of 3 treatments at weekly intervals, with the average course being 6-8 treatments. These can be spread over a longer period of time, depending on how you feel.

With more and more people using various forms of technology such as i-pads, tablets and smartphones, there has been an explosion of related conditions. Pain in the fingers, arms and shoulders, tight necks and bad backs.
Text neck, however, is one of the worst. Damage to the spine by spending long periods of time in this poor hunched over posture could lead to serious problems.
Contact me to see how massage can not only provide time away from technology, but will actually help to work out the knots and tension created by technology.
